Product Proposal

Our project proposal is – Identifying the missing piece of the jigsaw when it comes to English youth footballers making it within the Premier League.

We believe this is a strong project to produce for our CW2 as it is a grey area within modern day footballing society. It is a situation which has never been given a in depth, specific answer. Whether that is because it hasn’t been researched from the correct angle or whether there is no one true answer, is a question we do not know, and what we are looking to identify as best we can.

Football, is without question the most popular sport in the country. English football has arguably the most competitive and most exciting league in the world. But why is it only 33% of 565 players who compete in the prestigious competition are English?

It is a subject which fascinates the majority of English footballing fans, as they want answers to why we are not producing like fellow countries and why our young sporting phenomenons are choosing alternative locations to enhance their abilities.

We are looking to go at the subject from multiple directions – We have planned and arranged interviews with coaches, current professionals, ex professionals, agents, scouts, all who have a strong relationship within sport and more importantly the academy aspect. Asking multiple different sources who have alternative roles within football, we will be able to different insights and viewpoints on what they believe where the problem lies.

Without video recordings we are looking to keep our voices away from the production, making the main focus being our interviews along with stats and phrase coming across the screen. Our recordings will come from people playing football at local clubs/academies, as we believe that is the type of shot which will set the scene for our project.
